Program Overview
Cloud Nine College General French Program provides students with the opportunity to develop essential French communication skills for daily life, travel, study, and professional settings.
This program is designed for students who wish to build a strong foundation in French language learning, including speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and cultural understanding.
Students will learn practical French through interactive lessons, role-play activities, group discussions, presentations, and real-life communication exercises. The program helps students improve their confidence in using French in everyday situations and prepares them for further French study if they wish to continue to a higher level.
The learning pace may vary depending on each student’s language background and learning progress. Placement may be required before registration to determine the appropriate level.

It is common for students to master a level within 12 weeks, however the learning pace depends on each student.
“Students who enrol in a language program which is six months or less in duration or for which tuition is less than $4,000 may not make a claim against the Student Tuition Protection Fund, which is managed by the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training. French Language Levels
We offer General French Programs based on the internationally recognized Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, also known as CEFR.
A1 — Beginner
Students at this level will learn basic French expressions, pronunciation, greetings, numbers, dates, simple questions, and everyday vocabulary.
Focus areas:
- Basic self-introduction
- Greetings and common expressions
- Numbers, dates, time, and daily routines
- Simple sentence structures
- Basic listening and speaking practice
A2 — Elementary
Students at this level will develop the ability to communicate in simple everyday situations, such as shopping, ordering food, asking for directions, and talking about personal experiences.
Focus areas:
- Everyday conversations
- Describing people, places, and activities
- Asking and answering simple questions
- Basic grammar and sentence formation
- Practical vocabulary for daily communication
B1 — Intermediate
Students at this level will improve their ability to express opinions, discuss familiar topics, understand short texts, and participate in conversations with more confidence.
Focus areas:
- Expressing opinions and preferences
- Describing past, present, and future events
- Reading short articles and simple written materials
- Writing short paragraphs and emails
- Participating in discussions and presentations
B2 — Upper-Intermediate
Students at this level will strengthen their ability to communicate more clearly and accurately in academic, workplace, and social contexts.
Focus areas:
- Advanced conversation practice
- Reading and understanding longer texts
- Writing structured paragraphs and formal messages
- Presenting ideas clearly
- Expanding vocabulary and improving fluency
Practical French Communication Module
This short French communication module is designed for students who want to improve their practical French skills for daily life, travel, customer service, community interaction, or future study.
The course focuses on helping students use French in real-life situations and build confidence through speaking practice, listening exercises, role-play, and guided communication activities.
Objectives
By the end of the program, students will be able to:
- Develop practical French speaking and listening skills
- Improve pronunciation and basic fluency
- Build vocabulary for daily communication
- Understand common French expressions and simple conversations
- Read and write simple French texts
- Participate in guided discussions and classroom activities
- Gain basic cultural awareness of French-speaking communities

General English Program Registration
Rolling, new intake every Mondays
Duration
Program duration may vary depending on the student’s selected level and study schedule.
Example options may include:
- Short-term French course: up to 12 weeks
- Full-time: 20 hours per week
- Part-time: 15 hours per week
- Customized schedule may be available depending on student needs and class availability
Eligibility
This program is suitable for students who:
- Are interested in learning French as a second or additional language
- Wish to improve French communication for personal, academic, or professional development
- Complete a placement test if required
No prior French knowledge is required for beginner-level students.
Pathway Program Eligibility
Students who complete higher-level French courses may continue to further language study or use their French skills to support future academic, travel, employment, or personal development goals.
This program is designed for language development and does not guarantee admission to another program unless otherwise stated in writing by Cloud Nine College.
PTIRU Approval Status
This program is:
A language program that may not require approval by the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit, provided that the program is six months or less in duration and the tuition is less than $4,000.
This program may not have been reviewed or approved by PTIRU.
Post-Graduation Work Permit Eligibility
This program is not eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) under current Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada regulations.
Students seeking PGWP eligibility should consider programs offered by public institutions or designated PGWP-eligible programs. For accurate and up-to-date immigration information, please consult IRCC directly or a licensed immigration consultant.
