Respectful And Fair Treatment Of Students Policy

While on the premises, in an online environment, or during activities or events hosted by Cloud Nine College, the following behaviours are prohibited:

DISCRIMINATION

Discrimination occurs when a person, or group of people, is treated less favourably than another person or group, based on a person’s race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, political belief, religion, marital status, family status, physical or mental disability, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other protected classification in accordance with applicable legislation.

HARASSMENT AND BULLYING

Harassment and bullying are repeated and unreasonable behaviours directed towards an individual or group of people that create a risk to health and safety, and/or create a toxic environment. “Repeated behaviours” refers to the persistent nature of the behaviours and can involve a range of behaviours over time. Unreasonable behaviours will be considered to have taken place if a reasonable person, having considered the circumstances, ought to have known that such behaviours was unwelcome. A toxic environment refers to behaviours that intimidates, humiliates, isolates, victimizes, threatens, and/or discriminates against a student or an employee.

VIOLENCE

Violence is any threatened, attempted, or actual conduct that causes or could cause physical injury. It includes any threatening statement or behaviours that gives an individual reasonable cause to believe that s/he may be at risk of harm.
