Overview
The objective of the Level 3 Diploma in Business Management qualification is to provide learners with an in-depth understanding of the operations and structure of businesses. The qualification will provide learners with the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills associated with business activities. It will prompt research, investigation and review of aspects of business which include Business Communication, The Business Environment, People Management, Customer Service, Finance and Marketing.
Generic Skills
Successful completion of this qualification will support learners progressing to university, and to provide learners with the requisite skills and knowledge to enter the world of work in their chosen sector.
- Obtain, organize and use factual, theoretical and/or hypothetical information in drawing conclusions and suggest solutions to business organizations.
- Use a wide range of skills, such as ICT, basic analysis of range of numerical and graphical data and effective written and oral communication.
- Take responsibility for carrying out a range of activities where the overall goal is clear, under nondirective supervision.
- Exercise some supervisory responsibility, work in teams, evaluate the work of others and make use of limited resources efficiently.
Entry Requirements
The Level 3 Diploma in Business Management qualification can be offered to learners from age 16. The awarding body does not specify entry requirements for these qualifications, but delivery centres such as Rose of York Business School are required to ensure that learners admitted to the programme have sufficient capability at the right level to undertake the learning and assessment. The Centres must ensure learners are recruited with integrity onto appropriate qualifications that will:

- and facilitate learning
- and achievement enable progression.

If a learner is not from a majority English speaking country must provide evidence of English language competency Common European Framework of
Reference (CEFR) level B2 Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) 51 IELTS 5.5; Reading and Writing must be at 5.5.
Equivalences
The qualifications at Level 3 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to GCE AS/A Levels.
Qualification Structure
The Level 3 Diploma in Business Management qualification consists of 6 mandatory units making a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 480 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Duration and Delivery
The qualification is designed to be delivered over one academic year for full-time study but it is also flexible in its delivery in order to accommodate part-time and distance learning. The qualification is delivered face-to-face, through lectures, tutorials, seminars, distance, and online with real-time online lectures.
Assessment and Verification
All units within this qualification are internally assessed by the center and externally verified by the awarding body. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. Judgement that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by the Assessor.
The Assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the judgement of the learners’ overall achievement has been arrived at.
Progressions
Successful completion of the Level 3 Diploma in Business Management provides learners the opportunity for a wide range of academic progressions including the Level 4 Diploma in Business Management.
As this qualification is approved and regulated by Ofqual (the UK Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), many universities acknowledge the ability of learners after studying the Level 3 Diploma in Business Management and may consider them for direct entry into a range of their Bachelor’s degree programes in the UK and Europe.
Overview
The objective of the Level 5 Extended Diploma in Business Management qualification is to provide learners with a specialist work-related programme of study that provides a depth of knowledge and understanding of key aspects within the business sector.
Learners will study level 4 and 5 units, worth 120 credits per academic year with a total credit value of 240 credits (equivalent to the first 2 years of an honors degree). All units are mandatory.
The Level 4 units lay the foundations of learning by providing an introduction to contemporary Business topics.
Generic Skills
Successful completion of this qualification will equip learners with the specialist skills and technical terminology to develop their business and management skills and to progress to further study or employment.
Entry Requirements
These qualifications are designed for learners who are typically aged 18 and above. The entry profile for learners is likely to include at least one of the following:
- Relevant Level 3 Diploma or equivalent qualification
- GCE Advanced level in 2 subjects or equivalent qualification Mature learners (over 21) with relevant management experience (learners must check with the

Qualifications at Level 4 and 5 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to Higher National Diplomas (HND) and Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree program.
Qualification Structure
The Level 5 Extended Diploma in Business Management qualification consists of 12 mandatory units, 240 credits, 2400 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and the recommended Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for this qualification is a minimum of 1200 hours.
To achieve the Level 5 Extended Diploma in Business Management, learners must achieve 240 credits, of which 120 credits are at Level 4 (6 units) and 120 credits are at Level 5 (6 units).

Successful completion of the Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership qualification allows learners to progress into or within employment and/or continue their study towards an MBA with advanced standing.
Entry Requirements
For entry onto the Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership qualification, learners must possess:
- An honors degree in related subject or UK level 6 diploma or an equivalent overseas qualification
- Mature learners with management experience (learners must check with the delivery center regarding this experience prior to registering for the program)
- Learners must be 21 years old or older at the beginning of the course
English Requirements
If a learner is not from a majority English speaking country must provide evidence of English language competency Common European Framework of

Equivalences
The Level 7 diplomas on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) are at the same level as master’s
degrees. However, they are shorter (120 credits) and learners will have to proceed to the dissertation stage (60 credits) with university to achieve a full masters programme.

Progressions
Successful completion of the Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership qualification enables learners to progress into or within employment and also join an MBA Advanced Entry route to a partner UK or European University.
As this qualification is approved and regulated by Ofqual (the UK Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), learners are also eligible to progress to an MBA top-up with advanced standing with many universities in the UK and in Europe.
